Dr Sarah Pitt
FOUNDER AND DIRECTOR
I set up Maybe SW in 2016, as I wanted to be able to support people with their mental health, that struggle to access support through other services like the NHS and who don’t have the financial means to access private services.
-
Stuart Scorgie
CHAIR OF TRUSTEES
I joined Maybe SW following my own experience of mental health issues. In my experience the NHS is often overstretched and underfunded, failing to meet the needs of those who need it the most. Maybe SW is part of the answer for others who need support. I am proud to be part of an organisation that aims to help those in need.
-

Dr Marie-Claire Fitzpatrick
DEPUTY CHAIR OF TRUSTEES
I passionately believe that access to psychological support should be available to anyone who is in need, regardless of financial status. Maybe Southwest aims to respond to this need when other resources are not readily available
-
Rob Beever
TREASURER FOR CYP
As a teacher I see the impact that mental health challenges can have on young people from all backgrounds. I became involved with Maybe SW to help support the charities work and contribute towards the support the charity is doing with children and young people in and around Bristol.
-

Manoj Das
TREASURER
I am a qualified accountant from Bangladesh. When I came to England a few years ago I decided that I wanted to give time to a charity to contribute to the community that I now belonged to. I chose Maybe SW as it supports some of the most vulnerable in our community.
-
Helen Draper
TRUSTEE
I joined the Board of Trustees in 2021. My background is in journalism and PR working for the BBC and ITN. I hope to bring those skills to Maybe, when needed, and support the amazing work they do filling the gaps in mental health support in Bristol.
The Therapists and Volunteers
Caroline Allen
I am qualified therapist and have a background in Primary, Secondary and Further Education. Before undertaking therapy training, I worked across a wide range of educational settings with a focus on student wellbeing through the arts and currently work with adults at the Greenway Centre.
My focus as a therapist is on a trusting, empathic relationship that allows people to work at their own pace and feel in control of their recovery.
Helen Downing
I am qualified therapist, specialising in working with people of all ages who have experienced early trauma. I have undergone specialist training to support my clients, including DDP (attachment-focussed approach for parents/carers and children) and Sand play therapy and have worked in a wide range of settings including education, Local Authority, adoption and fostering agencies.
In my spare time I love being in nature, whether that’s a long walk in the rain or chasing slugs around my garden! And I love a good story.
Sharon Lewis
I am an Art Psychotherapist and I have worked in varied settings with different client groups of all ages; in hospitals, schools, charities and community centres. I work with and without art materials, in a relational person-centred way, working with mind, body and soul to process emotional, mental and physical trauma.
Sometimes words are not enough but there are many other ways to express ourselves. I provide a safe environment that enables people to safely connect and find a way to be themselves. I love working creatively with people in this way and it draws on my own experience as someone who sometimes struggled to find words. It’s never too late for anyone!
Jayne Archer
I am a qualified Integrative therapist, supervisor and coach and have worked in the helping professions across the charity, public and private sector for over 20 years. I originally trained as a youth and community worker and have since worked extensively with young people and families.
I felt inspired by the person-centred values at Maybe SW which really resonate with me. Outside of Maybe, I run a Private Practice and in my spare time, I love playing music, nature, meditation and exploring new places and things.
Dr Marie-Claire Fitzpatrick
I have a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology and am a member of the BPS. I have experience working in NHS-funded services and private practice. I am also an affiliate therapist with a local university supporting students as they travel through the education process.
I have experience of working with people of all ages in a wide range of settings that include hospitals, schools and universities. I have had the privilege of working with clients who have experienced many different types of distress including trauma, loss, anxiety, low mood, OCD and relational issues.
Dr Sarah Pitt
I have a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology and am a member of the BACP, BPS and HCPC. I therefore work within the necessary ethical codes outlined by these organisations.
I have experience working in both private and NHS settings with a full range of mental health issues; these include, amongst others, trauma, OCD, depression, abuse, child loss, eating disorders, dissociation, panic and anxiety. I also have specialist training working with children and young people. When appropriate I enjoy using creative and artistic methods with clients to compliment the range of relational approaches usually used in psychotherapy.
Tamson David
I am an Art Therapist with an MA in Art Psychotherapy and a member of BAAT and HCPC. I have previously worked in education so have many years of experience of working with young people.
I have a passion for art and its therapeutic benefits, to visually express feelings that may be difficult to verbalise or have been hidden. I offer clients a safe and non-judgemental space to explore their feelings enabling increased self-understanding and personal growth.
Naomi Fowler
I am an Integrative counsellor. I work relationally, believing in the importance of creating a safe, trusting, attuned relationship for clients to be able to explore what is important to them, at their own pace. I have been privileged to work with a wide variety of adults, young people and children from varying backgrounds and with different experiences. I have had additional training to work with children and young people, often incorporating creative methods in this work where appropriate. Outside of counselling, I love being in nature, walking and music.
Cara Bache-Jeffreys
I am an integrative psychotherapist (encompassing attachment theory, the person-centered approach and CBT). I am extremely passionate about creating a space of acceptance, without judgement. I love working for Maybe because I wholeheartedly believe everyone should be able to access the support that they need, regardless of their financial situation or what they would like to change in their lives.
I now volunteer with Maybe SW providing support to the therapists working with charity.
